How Could You? Hall of Shame-Dieter Claus Bucher

From Destin, Florida, foster parent Dieter Claus Bucher, 76, “was arrested March 7 after Florida Department of Law Enforcement agents and Okaloosa County sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant at their home.”

“FDLE computer forensic examiners found four videos containing child pornography on a computer belonging to Bucher. These videos depicted children between 5 and 12 years old.

According to an FDLE press release, Bucher was charged April 5 with 18 additional counts of child pornography that were located during continued forensic exams.

Children in Crisis is a nonprofit charity that provides homes for abused, neglected and abandoned children in the community.

Bucher and his wife, who has not been implicated, were dismissed immediately, Ken Hair, director of the CIC, said after Bucher’s initial arrest. She was terminated with two weeks’ pay, he said.

Hair said there was no evidence that any of the children in Bucher’s care were depicted in the porn.

“It was on his personal laptop,” said Hair, who added that the Buchers underwent an extensive background check before being hired as foster parents eight months ago.

“We even checked for the last five years to see if there were any 911 calls and there were not,” he said. “Everything was clear.”

He  “now faces 22 counts of child pornography.”
