How Could You? Hall of Shame-Neveah Gerrior case-Child Death

This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.

From Easthampton, Massachusetts, “Neveah Gerrior was just 5 years old when she died in December [2018] in a state-licensed foster home. Her death is now being investigated by the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office and the Department of Children and Families.

Neveah’s family said she and her brother were placed with a family in Easthampton in 2018. Months later, they were told she died in that foster home on Treehouse Circle.

Police were called to the home on Dec. 21, and DCF closed the foster home in the wake of the child’s death.

Sources say that besides the foster parents, there were other people living in the home who may not have undergone background checks. It is not clear exactly who was home when the child died.

A spokesperson for the DA tells us the investigation is ongoing and they’re still analyzing volumes of medical records.

DCF said it takes its responsibility to keep kids safe seriously and they’re cooperating with the DA.”
