DOS: Temporary Cessation of Hand in Hand Adoption Program in China

See here:
“On March 11, 2020, the Intercountry Adoption Accreditation and Maintenance Entity (IAAME) required Hand in Hand to temporarily cease providing adoption services in China. IAAME determined that it was necessary to take this action due to Hand in Hand’s failure to maintain substantial compliance with relevant accreditation standards. Hand in Hand’s adoption programs in other countries are not impacted by this action.

During this cessation, Hand in Hand must cease to provide all Primary Provider services in connection with intercountry adoption cases in China. Hand in Hand is not required to transfer ongoing cases to another provider at this time if no adoption services will be provided during the cessation.

If you have an open case with Hand in hand in China, please contact them directly to find out how the cessation will affect your case. You may also wish to review the information on U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services’ website at If Your Adoption Service Provider is no Longer Accredited or Approved.

Federal regulations authorize designated accrediting entities to review complaints and take action when it determines regulatory standards have been violated. The Department of State facilitates communication to the public about the outcome of accrediting entity determinations. Please direct any questions about this announcement to IAAME at www.iaame.net.”
