How Could You? Hall of Shame-Eddie Davis

This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.

From Republic, Missouri, “police say a man admitted to shaking a foster baby that he was watching at a home in Republic.
The child was taken to the hospital last week in critical condition, according to Greene County prosecutors.

Eddie Davis, 23, was charged Thursday with felony child abuse after Republic police say the child suffered serious injuries while under Davis’s care.

According to a probable cause statement, the victim was taken to a Springfield hospital on Wednesday with injuries consistent with “shaken baby.”

The statement says the infant’s foster mother told authorities that she had left the boy and other children with Davis earlier that day while she went to work.

When the mother got home that afternoon, the statement says she found the infant was cold, quiet and his limbs were limp. The boy had allegedly been fine when the foster mother left in the morning.

The statement says the foster mother took the child to the hospital where he was diagnosed with bleeding around the brain and continuous seizures.

Republic police then interviewed Davis. They say Davis initially denied injuring the child but then later stated he was “100 percent responsible” after police had him take a Computer Voice Stress Analyzer that showed signs of deception, according to the statement.

The statement says Davis told police he became overwhelmed dealing with all the children and he shook the infant because the baby would not stop fussing and crying.

Davis allegedly told police he needed help with his drug, depression and anger problems. Prosecutors say Davis has a prior arrest for domestic assault in Taney County. [What? Why is he a foster parent? Rolling eyes emoticon gif1]

Davis is being held in the Greene County Jail without bond. He does not have an attorney listed for this case. He faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.”
