From Ukiah, California, guardian Audrey Joyce Hernandez, 74, “has been charged with child abuse, according to the Ukiah Police Department.

On May 7 the UPD began investigating a report of child abuse after a little girl was found to have several significant and suspicious injuries to her body, according to the UPD.

Police say they learned the girl’s guardian, 74-year-old Audrey Joyce Hernandez, had custody of five children, ranging from 4 to 15 years old, at a home on …. All of the children were detained by Child Protective Services while UPD detectives investigated.

During the investigation, several search warrants were served and evidence of child abuse was discovered, according to the UPD.

A warrant was obtained and on May 23 Hernandez was arrested. She was booked into the Mendocino County Jail in on a $65,000 bail. Hernandez is charged with a felony count of injuring a child and four misdemeanor counts of child abuse, according to the UPD.
