DOS: St. Kitts and Nevis accedes to the 1993 Hague Convention

“On October 26, 2020, St. Kitts and Nevis deposited its instrument of accession to the Convention on the Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption (Hague Adoption Convention). The Convention will enter into force for St. Kitts and Nevis on February 1, 2021. The Department is determining if the United States may process Convention adoptions with St. Kitts and Nevis pursuant to U.S. law.

St. Kitts and Nevis is the 103rd nation to become party to the Hague Adoption Convention, an international agreement that establishes safeguards with the goal of protecting the best interests of the child and of providing greater security, predictability, and transparency for all those involved in an intercountry adoption.”
