How Could You? Hall of Shame- John Olson

From Warwick, New York, John Olson “was charged with predatory sexual assault against a child, first-degree rape and other abuse charges in May and June this year” against foster children and day care children.

“On Monday, Joan Parks, 80, of Mamakating, was charged with failing to report the abuse, troopers said. She was a clinical social worker who was required to report abuse to police, they said.

Parks was also charged with one count of endangering the welfare of a child, police said.

Police did not say how or when Parks was made aware of the abuse. They did not say if Olson was employed at the daycare center.

Olson was indicted by two grand juries on

First-degree rape
First-degree criminal sexual act
First-degree course of sexual conduct against a child
Second-degree criminal sexual act
Second-degree rape
Endangering the welfare of a child
First-degree attempted rape
Two counts of first-degree sexual abuse

Olson has been held without bail in Delaware County jail since May, police said.

Parks was issued an appearance ticket to Warwick court, police said.
