How Could You? Hall of Shame-Theresa Taylor and Anthony Mason
This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.
From Baltimore, Maryland, guardian “Theresa Taylor, 42, and her boyfriend Anthony Mason, 34, are in jail, charged with attempted first-degree murder and gun violations.”
“Baltimore police charged a woman and her boyfriend, who are accused of shooting at their teenage foster child, but the woman’s family is disputing the girl’s claims.
Court documents obtained by 11 News indicate there was an ongoing violent dispute over guardianship of the 16-year-old girl.”
“Roxanne Harrison, a neighbor, said the girl was having ongoing violent arguments with her foster mother. According to investigators, the dispute is over guardianship of the teen who recently moved in with her godmother.
“I’m really shocked that it went this far,” Harrison said. “I did fear for her safety.”
According to police charging documents obtained by 11 News, Taylor and Mason shot at the girl on April 23 when she tried to remove some belongings from Taylor’s house in west Baltimore. The girl was not hurt.
Police charging documents indicate Taylor was sitting outside the house with a baseball bat and said: “I got something for y’all.” The charging documents state Taylor then went inside the house and came out with a gun, pointed it at the teen and fired a shot.
The teen told police that as she and her godmother ran away, Mason grabbed the gun and began shooting at them.
Police charging documents detail a second violent incident on May 1 at the teen’s godmother’s house in west Baltimore. Citing the girl, the charging documents state, “her mother was banging on the door, yelling for her to come outside. She observed her mother go inside a vehicle and retrieve a handgun and began waving the gun around and point it at the house.”
However, family members dispute the claims, saying it was the other way around. Family members allege the teen is the aggressor and lied to police about the facts in this case. They cited 11 News a bullet hole in the neighbor’s porch awning as proof.
Family members contend Taylor doesn’t own or have access to a firearm. They said they doubt she even went to the godmother’s house because she doesn’t have a car. The teen’s neighbor said misleading police seems out of character for the girl she knows.
“She is very respectful. (I’ve) never seen anything out of the ordinary with her,” Harrison said.
Family members said Taylor surrendered to police.”
