This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.

From Puyallup, Washington, a foster baby “inside a 100-degree car for about nine hours on Wednesday died, the Puyallup Police Department confirmed Monday.

According to police, officers were called to the hospital and spoke with staff. The baby’s foster mother forgot the baby in the back of the car when she went inside to work, police said.

“She arrived at work, went to work, came out and found the baby in the backseat,” said Capt. Don Bourbon with the Puyallup Police Department.

The temperature that day was between 70 and 75 degrees, and the temperature inside the car around 6:15 p.m. was north of 100, police said.

“Life-saving measures” were attempted but the baby, who was just over 1, died, police added.

“This is a very tragic incident and our hearts go out to the family that is involved in this,” said Bourbon.

The baby’s foster mother and her partner had another child they were fostering, and that child was taken back into custody of Child Protective Services.

Bourbon said the woman was “very cooperative and very distraught.”
