How Could You? Hall of Shame-Nina Shepherd and Thomas Burch

From Newburgh, Indiana, 28-year-old Nina Shepherd, a foster mother and  37-year-old Thomas Burch, both of Newburgh, “were arrested in the investigation” of child abuse.

“WCSO says the investigation started last month after child services received information about child abuse taking place at a home on Oak View Court in Newburgh.

Through the investigation, authorities say Burch and Shepherd, who is a foster mother, were abusing and confining the children in Shepherd’s care.

The sheriff’s office says all of the kids were quickly removed from the home, and that arrest warrants were issued for Burch and Shepherd after charges were filed in court.

Burch is facing three felony counts of Criminal Confinement, and Shepherd faces three counts of domestic battery on children and three counts of neglect.

“The Warrick County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to protecting the community’s most vulnerable members and will continue to work closely with the Department of Child Services throughout this investigation,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

Burch and Shepherd are both being held in the Warrick County Jail on bond.”
