How Could You? Hall of Shame-Shannon Cooper

From Largo, Florida, group home worker, Shannon Cooper, “was arrested and charged with abuse on Wednesday [January 21, 2026].”

“The father of a 12-year-old nonverbal child with autism reported abuse on December 21, 2025, after noticing multiple injuries to his child while picking up from group home in Largo.”

“The video, according to PCSO, showed Cooper pulling the victim around by their collar, striking the victim unprovoked multiple times, straddled the victim and forcing her weight upon them,throwing the victim into furniture, and taking the victim into rooms that were known to not have cameras.”

“Deputies said the victim suffered from bruising on the neck, right arm and left arm as well as scratches on their face and hands.”

“Per Florida Statute 119.071(2)(h)1, no further details will be released that would tend to identify the 10-year-old victim.” says Pinellas County sheriff. [So, I don’t know if the victim is 10 years old or 12 years old. I guess either the sheriff or the news station can’t do math?]
