How Could You? Hall of Shame-Eniola Olafemi case-Child Death

This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.

A 2024 case came come to light.

From Tampa, Florida, adoptee Eniola Olafemi, 16, died on November 17, 2024. He was found face-down in the water of the Courtney Campbell Causeway in Tampa, Florida. He DID NOT drown. He had no signs of cuts, stab wounds, gunshots, or strangulation on the body.

“His grandmother Cathy Jackson adopted Olafemi and his two siblings, who were living with their father in Brazil, in 2015, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Jackson told CBS affiliate WTSP that her grandson left for school on Tuesday, Nov. 12, but she later learned that he never arrived.”

“Jackson said police told her that Olafemi was identified through dental records, and that he had been face-down in the water for about two days, according to WTSP.”

““They don’t know how he died,” she told WTSP. “They have no clue.”” [Wow! That is some good police work! Not!]

“Speaking with NBC affiliate WFLA-TV, Jackson said that police also couldn’t tell her “how he ended up in the water for two days” or where he’d been for the rest of the time that he was missing. “They said we don’t know yet,” she added.

Police said in a statement that the body found Sunday “had no obvious signs of trauma” and that “there is nothing that suggests foul play.” His cause of death will be determined by a medical examiner.”

“Olafemi had a history of running away, but Jackson believes something nefarious may have happened, according to the Times.

“I think somebody kidnapped him,” she told WFLA. “I really do.””

“Tampa police have located a 15-year-old boy that had been missing since Christmas.

Police said Adelana Olafemi was found safe Thursday evening and reunited with his family.[Yikes!]

There was extra concern from the boy’s family, which is still grieving the death of Adelana’s 16-year-old brother Eniola.

On Nov. 17, the body of Eniola was found in the waters off the Courtney Campbell Causeway in Tampa.

That case remains under investigation.”

[I couldn’t find anything else about this case. And that is ! Shouldn’t there be some sort of investigation when he didn’t drown and no signs of anything that would have killed him… except drugs? And the grandma said he had been kidnapped! Maybe it was drugs, but we will never know, because there is no follow-up!]
