How Could You? Hall of Shame-Tristan and Brittany Hull

This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.

From Wausau, Wisconsin, adoptive father, Tristan Hull,40, “pleaded guilty in August [2025] to “intentionally starved a teenage victim, rationing her food and water to the point that her organs were beginning to fail.”

He “was sentenced to four years in prison, followed by four years of extended supervision on Wednesday. A judge did grant him credit for almost two years already served in jail while the case was pending.

Brittany Hull, 30, has a jury trial scheduled for February tied to the same case.”

“A Wausau woman accused of starving her teenage stepdaughter nearly to death was convicted Monday of a felony child neglect charge, ending the case without a jury trial.

Brittany Hull, 32, was convicted of chronic neglect of a child where the consequence was great bodily harm, a Class D felony under Wisconsin law. The conviction carries a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison, including up to 15 years of initial confinement and 10 years of extended supervision.

As part of the resolution, prosecutors dismissed a charge of intentional child abuse causing great bodily harm, a Class C felony. That charge was dismissed outright but read into the record for consideration at sentencing.”

“The girl was homeschooled and was told she had a medical condition that prevented her from gaining weight, investigators said. Doctors found no evidence of such a condition.”

“Court records show the teen’s health improved following her removal from the home.”
