This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.
From Hernando County, Florida, foster parent Aaron Dean Lairson,51, “faces a jury trial Monday, Aug. 11, [2025] on multiple felony charges alleging he sexually battered a minor in his custodial care.
Lairson, represented by attorney Ryan Cox, entered a plea of not guilty on May 2, 2024; on March 26, 2025, an amended indictment was filed charging him with six counts of sexual battery—three counts involving a child under 12 years of age and three counts of sexual battery by a custodian involving a child between 12 and 18 years old.
The charges allege between March and June 2018, Lairson committed repeated acts of sexual battery against a child born in April 2007, who was under his care as her foster father.
According to the arrest affidavit, Detective Thomas J. Cameron outlined several incidents that occurred in Hernando County and other states, including Indiana and Ohio. The victim was Lairson’s foster daughter at the time, aged 11 to 12.
The affidavit states Lairson, in a position of familial or custodial authority, sexually abused the child on multiple occasions.
In March 2018, during a stay at a Motel 6 in Hernando County over spring break, Lairson allegedly forced himself on the victim.
In June 2018, during a family trip, Lairson rented an Airbnb near Rogers Park Beach in the Weeki Wachee area, where he reportedly forced the victim to engage in sexual acts, including incidents that occurred while the victim was showering.
The victim reported that despite her pleas for him to stop, Lairson continued the abuse and punished her by making her sleep on the couch.
The victim’s current legal guardian, Devin Bogard, contacted law enforcement in January 2024 after learning of the abuse. A forensic interview was conducted at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Hernando County, where investigators confirmed the victim’s account.
Rental records from Motel 6 show Lairson stayed at the motel in late March 2018 and 2019, matching the victim’s timeline. Airbnb records confirmed a rental for a week in June 2018 near Rogers Park Beach, consistent with the location and dates described by the victim.
Aaron Dean Lairson was arrested on March 19, 2024, and remains in custody at the Hernando County Jail. The prosecution, led by Kasey Whitson, has filed formal charges against him including five counts of sexual battery: two counts of sexual battery upon a child under 12 years old and three counts of sexual battery by a custodian on a victim aged 12 to under 18.
However, three other charges of sexual battery upon a child under 12 years old were dropped by the prosecution and marked as nolle prosequi.”
