The Jessica Brianne Foundation to Prevent Foster Care Abuse

This organization was co-founded by a former ward of Illinois who was abused. Though her case was reported to DCFS by the school, they inexplicably closed her case.

Now she and her husband want to give back to the community and help secure the safety of other foster children.

Their mission statement can be found here and is pasted below:

“Our mission is to provide additional funding to private agencies responsible for the safety and welfare of foster children in the United States. Through donations and grants,The Jessica Brianne Foundation will provide these agencies the ability to:

1. Enhance the foster home application screening process by conducting deeper evaluations of the individual(s) responsible for the children in the foster home. The goal is to detect abusive patterns and/or behaviors in caregivers prior to placement of foster children in the home.

2. Provide funding for additional agency personnel so that deeper investigations in to child abuse allegations may be conducted.

3. Create fundraising events for additional funding for private agencies. Event themes will include:

– Ice cream socials, where families can have fun while also contributing to a great cause
– Musical benefits performed by local artists with intermissions where foster care abuse can be discussed
– Fund dinners where businesspersons can meet and network”

They have a tab to contribute to their cause. They do not take a salary from their 501 3 c organization.
