How Could You? Hall of Shame-Darryl Earl Houston UPDATED

This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.

From Houston, Texas, foster father and pastor Darryl Earl Houston, 47, was arrested on August 22, 2013 on three second degree felony counts of sexual assault of a child aged14-17 after his 14-year-old foster daughter reported it to Child Protective Services. Darryl’s bond was set at $30,000. He had his first court appearance on August 26, 2013 and currently is still in jail, according to Harris County, Texas court records.

“According to court documents, a 14-year-old girl told authorities with Child Protective Services that Houston, her pastor and foster father, had sex with her on multiple occasions and promised her they had a future together.

Houston denied the allegations when interviewed by a Harris County Sheriff’s deputy, and accused the girl of being “promiscuous.” But Houston reportedly showed signs of “deception” when taking a voluntary polygraph test, court documents state.

CPS removed all the foster children from the home. ”

REFORM Puzzle Pieces

Update: “The 14-year-old victim said the first time she had sex with Houston was at his home on April 7. She said while she was doing her chores, Houston called her into the TV room and began kissing her neck. The two of them began to “make out” and then had sex, according to court documents.

The two allegedly had sexual contact at least six times, even when others were in the home, up until April 24.  Two days later, she told her therapist at the Children’s Assessment Center. The teen said she enjoyed being with Houston and that he allegedly told her the two of them would be together in the future.

But when investigators questioned Houston, he denied the allegations and accused the teen of being “promiscuous.” However, a polygraph exam showed that Houston was being deceptive when asked about having sexual contact with the teen, investigators said.

A medical examination the teen was given at Texas Children’s Hospital revealed she had bruising consistent with sexual activity.

Houston’s other foster children were immediately removed from the home.

Houston’s bail was set at $30,000. It was not known which church he was connected to.”

  1. I am baffled at this news. Not defending the Pastor, yet is there any way that the polygraph test showed deception because he was indeed nervous, upset, and distraught behind the allocations? That the examination and signs of brusing found on the 14 year old was indeed made by another man?
What happened to innocent until proven guilty in our court system? Has anyone questioned this mans family, friends, etc of his behavior even around the teens since activity was indeed happening when others were in the home? What about even the teens family and friends of her behavior? What were the statements? If these allocations are indeed true I am sickened by it, and my heart goes out to the teen, yet if they are not…. How will this man get his life back? Looking for updates on this case… I’m just curious??

    • It doesn’t really matter if someone takes a polygraph since the results are have limited value at trial and at times are not even admissible evidence.

He’s arrested. That implies that someone did an investigation of the adults, friends, family, neighbors and found enough evidence to make the arrest stick.

I’m not seeing anything in the article with this entry that indicates any “mystery man” lover who could have done it. Maybe there is. It’s the prosecution’s job to find him. Or for the defense to identify him as an additional suspect. Blaming an innocent person for a crime to get a guilty person exonerated isn’t justice either.

It will also need to be proven and not by circumstantial evidence that a yet to be identified party did the bruising. I’m assuming the exam was of her vaginal area. One circumstance where there will be bruising upon examination is forcible rape.

Women have sex all the time, sex they want and none of the vaginas bruise because of it.

The witness is the girl, who I see is being quickly labeled “promiscuous” by the accused.

She’s 14 and promiscuity is subjective. The fact that her hymen is gone is enough for some child welfare investigator to come up with that label. If she’s in foster care, her prior sexual “experiences” build up into that label. She’s not old enough to consent legally and she’s a minor, thus the grown pastor potentially committed statutory rape. And religious types are very quick to slut shame girls.

That’s what disturbing. Where is the concern for this child rebuilding her life after foster care? Why do people come to blogs to defend preachers who are accused of child abuse? This event, even if she’s not named, it publicizes her abuse.

Some foster kids have very weak boundaries and teen girls confused sex with a romantic love.

    • Lard,

Re: “…What happened to innocent until proven guilty in our court system?…”

That applies to the TRIAL itself, not to investigation of a crime or arrest.

The 14-year old victim herself SAID that Daryl Houston was the culprit who induced her into a sexual relationship. This claim was backed up by a medical examination which discovered the genital bruising.

That’s grounds for his arrest and removal of the foster children from the home right there. Houston will get his day in court, where he can try to persuade a jury that this girl didn’t know who molested her.

    • Lard, I am a personal friend of Darryl Houston & I totally agree with you. It sickens me that people are ready to attack a person & are ready to find fault. I have known him for years & worked with him. Not one time have I seen him inappropriate or even alone with any child or woman. Children in foster care have been hurt & rejected on so many levels & are not always truthful. This teen was a constant run away & had a boyfriend which was trying to be stopped. Teens get mad and make accusations some even kill to be with the person they feel they love. A lie detector is not admissible in court so why take that as gold. Idk Im saddened my friend will have to live a branded life if proven innocent. #prayingforhimdaily

    • I was living on this home
I was also a foster child there . This is true , so stop .

  2. Lard, you ask good questions ” Has anyone questioned this mans family, friends, etc of his behavior even around the teens since activity was indeed happening when others were in the home? What about even the teens family and friends of her behavior? What were the statements? ” These are questions that the jury will hopefully hear. I checked the court record this morning. He still is in custody. There is a consultation hearing on September 23 which I will update the post with.

  3. All those questions about the teen, those can’t be disclosed to the press. Just because a pastor is in the headlines, that child has a statutory right to confidentiality as a foster child and a crime victim.

His arrest does not abrogate her right to confidentiality.

It’s for the court to decide. Court with a capital C. Not the court of public opinion.

  4. Rally who said u were attacking him. No need to get defensive & jump down my throat. I have read many reports & was talking about the many reports & comments I have read where he was attacked. Didn’t know I had to explain. Anywho I’m focused on my friend not arguing with u.

  5. I had faith in this person but he is now doing 20 yes for another sexual assualt……a very sick man
