From Kansas City, Missouri, guardian Adair R. Fish “has been charged in connection with the death of a child and neglecting another child.
Adair R. Fish, 43, faces abuses or neglect of a child resulting in death, abuse or neglect of a child, and two endangering the welfare of a child first-degree charges.
According to court records, Kansas City police were dispatched to the … St. John Avenue on November 3 on a report of a deceased 5-year-old child.
Upon arrival, officers found two children, one deceased and the other non-responsive.
A 911 call was made by Fish and during the call with the police and paramedics, she stated that one of the children has been dead for several days and the other was unresponsive.
According to the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office, Fish was the legal guardian of the child and had care, custody, and control of their health and well-being.
“I’ve been here two years and I’ve never seen the kids,” Ajanae Brent, who lives in the same building as Fish said. “I have never seen the woman. I have never seen any of them.”
Investigators said the apartment was cluttered with trash, debris, old food, and other items.
“It just breaks my heart so bad because it’s like that baby didn’t get to go to head start,” Brent said. “That baby was five, so she didn’t go to kindergarten, she can’t do anything.”

Medical records for Fish’s surviving child said the doctor diagnosed neglect, psychological maltreatment, and concern for physical abuse.

Update: “A doctor diagnosed that the dead girl suffered from malnutrition and neglect. A doctor stated her weight was the expected amount for a 20-month-old child.
Ivy House was found dead six days before she would have turned 5 years old.
A probable cause document stated the apartment was cluttered with trash, debris and old food. Trash in places was 2-5 feet high off the floor, investigators stated.
The Kansas City Police Department stated the medical examiner’s office has determined the child died as a result of a homicide and that the Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office has filed charges.”
