Massachusetts DCF being Audited

” The Massachusetts Department of Children and Families is being audited after a boy in state care goes missing and is presumed dead.

Five-year-old Jeremiah Oliver went missing while in state care. Governor Deval Patrick said a series of events lead to the agency failure of keeping track of Oliver.

Oliver’s case is one of many problems facing the agency.

A report shows 95 children have died under DCF care in Massachusetts between 2001 and 2010.

23-month-old Kaydn Hancock was found beaten to death in 2010. His mother pleaded guilty to manslaughter and is serving time. His mother had broken his arm a month and a half prior to the deadly beating. DCF removed the Kaydn from the home but returned him less than a week later.”
