A Snapshot of Indiana’s Broken CPS System

15-Year-Old Jeremiah Nicholas Dill.

He had a history of guardianships who unable to control him at home and a historical record of mental health interventions and commitments.[Um…where are the Authorities here? Bueller? Bueller? Why hasn’t he been placed with other Well-trained guardians. Emphasis on well-trained. I know the answer to that one… because the authorities DO NOT CARE  about this boy or his family! There! I said it! Because maybe they are poor, maybe they live in a po-dunk place, maybe because they haven’t trained the CPS agents very well..I really don’t know the answer to that one. I am just guessing…]

He is still on the same medications as he was at the time of the incident and upon his release from at least two different facilities. [Um.. yeah! So what?🤷Obviously, those are not the right medications! Duh! Why don’t you get him some different medications! There is a thought! But No….I am sorry I am asking this question😒]

The Incident

“On the afternoon of Aug. 9,[2025] a call came in concerning a gunshot victim at a home in the … Truesdel Road. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found Jeffrey Fauber, 61, and Grantham Adam Chandler, 41, deceased from gunshot wounds.

Shortly after, the Martinsville Police Department posted to their Facebook page that they detained a juvenile male that had entered the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department lobby advising them of an incident in Owen County that was “criminal in nature.”

Initial information, including the responding agencies and what information could be released was made available at a press conference at the Owen County Courthouse at 9 p.m. that night. Dill’s name was not released at that time, as he is a minor and needed to be waived to adult court before his name would be made publicly available.

In order to be charged as an adult, Prosecutor Benjamin Kim had to prove that the defendant was at least 12 years old, that probable cause of the crime occurred and that the juvenile was involved and that charging as an adult is in the best interest of the juvenile and the safety of the community.”[Why is that the best interest of the juvenile?]

“Defense attorney Megan Schueler argued that keeping the case in juvenile court was in the best interest of Dill and the safety of the community. She argued that the services and structure provided through the juvenile system provides Dill with the best chance of rehabilitation. Schueler argued that the system had repeatedly failed Dill. “[Ya got that right!a yellow smiley face is eating popcorn in a striped bucket. It FAILED him completely. So, once again,I ask, why don’t they get him new doctors to prescribe new medications to him, since the government failed in their CPS capacity.Hmm?]

The Result

“A 15-year-old boy in Owen County is being charged as an adult for allegedly murdering his father and great uncle on Aug. 9.

Grantham Chandler, 43, and Jeffrey Fauber, 61, were both found shot and killed in the driveway of a home in the …Turesdel Road in Quincy, which is an unincorporated town about five miles southeast of Cloverdale.

An Owen County deputy arrived at the scene of the shooting at 3:42 p.m. As Indiana State Police were preparing to respond, they were told 15-year-old Jeremiah Dill had turned himself in at a Martinsville Police station saying a crime had happened.

“I killed my family,” Dill allegedly told an officer at the station. “I killed my father.”

When another officer approached Dill, the teen reportedly said, “I’m fighting demons.“😱

Officers say Dill told them, “the guns are in that car that I killed him with.”

After Dill was taken into custody, police began investigating his past. He had a documented history of threatening to kill family members, including one threat that involved in patient treatment.”

“Dill was released from the facility two days before the double homicide.

On Oct. 29, Dill was waived to adult court to face his two murder charges.

An initial hearing was held on Nov. 3. Dill’s attorneys moved for a change of venue, but the judge denied that motion on Nov. 13.

Dill’s jury trial is scheduled for April 14, 2026.

Despite being waived to adult court, 13News has been told that Dill is still in juvenile custody.”
