How Could You? Hall of Shame-Marie Terry

This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.

From East Point, Georgia, foster parent and 2024 East Point City Council Ward B candidate, Marie Terry, “was arrested for allegedly abusing her foster children by forcing them to eat cat litter.

According to arrest warrants, Marie Terry fostered three children—two males and a female—at a home in East Point for over 10 years.

During that time, Terry allegedly disciplined the children by striking them with a skillet, a wooden grill scraper, and a plastic bat, causing pain and injuries.[What an upstanding citizen!…NOT!]

The warrant states Terry also mentally abused the children and forced them to eat feces-riddled cat litter, sleep on a basement floor without a bed, and stay in a closet without light or windows, with the outside secured to prevent escape.

As a result, the children began running away.

Terry was booked into Fulton County Jail on three counts of first-degree child cruelty and released on a $15,000 bond.

In November 2024, Terry ran for a position on East Point City Council At-large Ward B but was defeated by Jermaine Wright.”
