Pennsylvania Woman Finds Siblings on Facebook

“A 36-year-old woman given up for adoption when she was a baby managed to track down her long-lost family in only a week using the social networking site. Nicholle Oliver, from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the US, posted a picture of herself on Facebook asking for help in finding her birth mother. In the image, she is holding a sign detailing the circumstances of her adoption, her real mother’s name and age. The  message ends with the appeal: ‘Please share on Facebook.’ Facebook did not disappoint. In the space of a few days Nicholle had discovered her mother Jodi Hildreth had died but that she had two older sisters she had no idea even existed.

Just one week – and nearly 5,000 shares – later Nicholle had an emotional meeting with siblings Rosie Briggs Franklin and Dollie Conant in Ohio. Nicholle told WCPO: ’It’s unbelievable. I have this huge hole filled that I never thought would be filled. It’s crazy.’

Both Rosie and Dollie had been told their sister was given up after suffering health problems due to their mother’s drug addiction. Rosie added: ’I’m just so happy that she’s alive and that she’s OK and she’s beautiful and is living a good full life. And perfectly normal [and] practically perfect in every way.’” Adopted woman tracks down birth sisters using Facebook (and it only takes one week)[Metro 3/19/14 ]
