From Hesperia, California, foster mother, Mayra Alvarez De Giron,63, “was arrested on suspicion of child abuse in Hesperia on Tuesday.

Investigators from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Crimes Against Children Detail (CAC) assisted deputies after receiving reports in February that a 7-year-old foster child was being abused in Hesperia.

The child had been placed in the foster care home of Mayra Alvarez De Giron by Los Angeles County Children and Family Services.

The 63-year-old foster mother was later identified as a suspect in the case, the Sheriff’s Department stated in a news release. No further details about the abuse or Alvarez De Giron’s role in it were provided.

She was charged with felony child abuse on Friday, and an arrest warrant was issued, the Sheriff’s Department stated. ”

She was “booked at the High Desert Detention Center without bail.”

“Detectives believe there may be additional victims from previous foster care placements and are releasing Alvarez De Giron’s photograph,” the Sheriff’s Department stated.
