How Could You? Hall of Shame- Dynisha Blunt and Etantania Williams
This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.
From Escambia County, Florida, foster carers, “Dynisha Blunt, 33, and Etantania Williams, 35, were both booked into Escambia County Jail late Monday night on two counts of felony child neglect with great bodily harm.”
“Both appeared in court on Wednesday, where Blunt was issued a $500,000 bond and Williams was issued a $250,000 bond. Both remain jailed at this time.
Their arrests followed an incident Monday evening where Blunt brought her 3-year-old boy — placed in her care since January 2026 by the foster system — to West Florida Hospital with severe injuries. She then grabbed the child and abruptly left before the boy could receive treatment, causing the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office to release an alert to the public.
Deputies later issued a traffic stop on Blunt’s vehicle at the intersection of N Davis Hwy. and Scenic Hwy., took her into custody and transported the 3-year-old boy and a 1-year-old girl to the hospital with injuries.”
“The arrest report reveals many more details on the case, including a West Florida Hospital doctor’s initial report on the 3-year-old boy.
According to the report, Blunt first brought the boy to West Florida Hospital with complaints about a rash on his lip. The doctor then noticed a head injury that “could possibly be life-threatening,” bruises on his ear and forehead, and red marks on his buttocks.
The report states that when the doctor left the room to advise his nursing team of possible child abuse, Blunt grabbed the boy and rushed out of the hospital. When one of the nurses told Blunt to come back, Blunt reportedly turned around and said “f— you,” then continued out of the hospital.
Following the traffic stop, according to the report, EMS was called to the scene and found the boy with bruises, lacerations and “shaking very bad.” Meanwhile, officials also located a 1-year-old girl in the car with multiple bruises to her body and a swollen left foot. Both children were transported to Ascension Sacred Heart for treatment.
The report states that Williams was also in the car, as well as these five other children:
16-year-old
13-year-old
12-year-old
11-year-old
4-year-old
All seven of the children are co-parented by Blunt and Williams, according to the report. Four are biological children, while the three foster children are the 3-year-old boy, 1-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy.
Deputies noted in the report that none of the biological children were injured, nor was the 4-year-old foster child, although he had only been in Blunt and Williams’ care for about a week.
DCF came and took all the remaining children, according to the report, while Williams went to the sheriff’s office for an interview. The biological children were later released to an aunt.
According to the report, Sacred Heart’s medical team reported these injuries to the 3-year-old boy:
- Bruising to the right temple and cheek
- Abrasions on his mouth and chin
- Bruising on the back right of his head, and also missing hair
- Bruising on left ear, left temple and along his spine
- Abrasions on his right shoulder and the right side of his back
- Bruising on the left side of his chest
- Abrasions and bruising along his left arm and left abdomen
- Bi-lateral knee bruising
- Abrasions on his right ankle
- Bi-lateral burns to his buttocks
- Abrasions to his right thigh
- Bi-lateral abrasions to his feet
- Swelling to the right of his head, caused by a hematoma
- Believed to be malnourished
The report states Sacred Heart’s medical team then reported these injuries to the 1-year-old girl:
- Bruising to the left front forehead
- Bruising to her right cheek
- Bruising to her right upper arm
- Bruising to her left shoulder
- Bruising to her left hand
- Bruising to her fingers on her left hand
- Bruising on both thighs and lower legs
- Bruising on her right foot
- Bruising on her buttocks
- Bruising on her right axillary (armpit)
- A torn frenulum
- Laceration on her lower lip
Blunt told deputies the boy fell off a skateboard and injured his mouth, according to the report. As for his other injuries, she said the boy “gets aggressive when he gets placed in timeout so he hits his head on the walls or other objects.”
The report states that amid the initial investigation, investigators were not able to tell who caused the injuries, so they couldn’t establish probable cause for aggravated child abuse and aggravated battery charges.
However, investigators noted in the report that “Both individuals failed to seek necessary medical care for the children’s clearly visible and severe injuries, with injuries appearing over time and in different stages of healing. As a result, they were arrested and charged with child neglect resulting in great bodily harm.”
Families First Network and DCF both have open cases into the incidents, according to the report.
Blunt and Williams are both due back in court on May 22 for arraignment.”
