How Could You? Hall of Shame-CPS Worker Luis Gonzalez

“Luis Gonzalez, 62, was arrested at his home in the Atwater Village area of Los Angeles on Thursday, according to Sgt. Eric Buschow of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.He has no criminal record, Buschow said.

Gonzalez was taken into custody following an investigation into allegations that he sexually assaulted a 7-year-old girl in Camarillo in November 2013, Buschow said. The Sheriff’s Office was not releasing additional details about that incident, he said.

He was arrested on suspicion of three felony counts of lewd acts upon a child, with enhancements for multiple victims, according to the Ventura County Superior Court website.

Gonzalez has been employed as a “welfare eligibility case worker” with L.A. County for the past nine years, Buschow said. He interviewed families and visited their homes to determine whether public assistance would be granted, Buschow said.

“This guy was in a position of trust and a position of authority,” Buschow said.

Two additional alleged victims of Gonzalez’s in incidents dating as far back as 1998 have been identified by detectives, according to the release. One girl was 12 years old at the time, Buschow said. He was not certain of the girl’s age.

Investigators believe there may be other victims in Los Angeles County.

Gonzalez was being held on $1.1 million bail at East County Jail in Thousand Oaks. He was expected to appear in court by Monday, Buschow said.”
