How Could You? Hall of Shame-Nicholas Bowermaster

From Keosauqua, Iowa, a jury convicted foster parent Nicholas Bowermaster, 66, ” on three counts of third-degree sexual abuse.

Investigators opened a case against Nicholas Bowermaster, 66, in August of 2020.

According to the criminal complaint, Bowermaster physically and sexually abused a foster child who was placed in his care in 2006 when she was 12.

The abuse happened for around five years. Physical acts of abuse included hitting her with a walking stick and shocking her with a cattle prod, the complaint said.

Investigators say they were able to verify the abuse allegations through others who were in the home at the same time as the victim and other witness interviews.

Bowermaster was arrested in September of 2024.

Bowermaster is scheduled to be sentenced on October 9 at the Van Buren County Courthouse. Each count is a Class C Felony, punishable by up to 10 years in prison for each count.”
