How Could You? Hall of Shame- Canada-4-Year-Old Foster Girl case-Child Death

From Winnipeg, Canada, a 4-year-old girl in foster care (Long Plain First Nation) died on August 9, 2026.

“Her two younger sisters, ages one and two, were also seriously injured and taken to the Children’s Hospital in Winnipeg.

The RCMP Major Crime Services is investigating the circumstances surrounding what authorities have described as a suspicious death.

The children had been removed from their mother’s care in October and were under the responsibility of Waywayseecappo Child and Family Services, which is affiliated with the Southern First Nations Network of Care.

Their mother says she had not seen the children since February.

During that last visit, she says she noticed changes that concerned her, including that the girls appeared thinner and that one had bruising around her eyes.

She maintains that she raised those concerns with her child welfare worker and sought help.

Those allegations have not yet been independently established through the investigations now underway.”
