From Long Branch,New Jersey, foster mother “Joan Colbert, 62, and Veronica Roach, 10, were killed. No arrests have been made, he said.”

“On Friday, authorities responded to a 9-1-1 call at 5:22 p.m. reporting suspicious circumstances at a Lippincott home and found the mother and daughter dead in their first floor apartment, the prosecutor’s office said.

Webster said the circumstances surrounding the deaths remain unclear but the prosecutor’s office had no reason to believe there was a threat to the community and urged anyone with information, however small, to contact authorities.

“There are people out there that know something,” Webster said. “Anything that may help, no matter how small it is, any and all information.”

Two Long Branch police cars were parked on the street outside the multi-story yellow home on Sunday morning. A special police officer was seated on the front porch next to a bouquet of balloons and stuffed animals on a bench. Two candles rested on the porch railing.

The homicide comes nearly a year and a half after a couple that was romantically involved were found stabbed to death in a Sairs Avenue home. No arrests have been made in that case as of Sunday.

Authorities are asking anyone with information to contact prosecutor’s office Detective Richard Chapman at 732-577-8700 or Long Branch police Detective Ross Zotti at 732-222-1000.
