Connecticut Teen Charged with Arson

“Hours after New Haven police released surveillance photos of a bookstore arson suspect, a teen was arrested.

Police said the 14-year-old’s foster parent recognized him after watching WFSB’s Thursday night broadcasts.

Eyewitness News aired surveillance pictures released by police that showed the teen setting several small fires with a lighter inside the Yale Book Store.

The incident happened Monday, according to investigators.

The pictures then showed the suspect walking into a bathroom, then leaving.

Minutes later, a small fire was discovered inside of that same bathroom.

Police said they charged the teen with third-degree arson, first-degree reckless endangerment and first-degree criminal mischief.”
