Mother Finds Daughter after 34 Years

“A Mother and daughter are celebrating the new year in a way they never expected; together. They were separated at birth nearly 34 years ago in Hawaii. After years apart in different parts of the world, they are once again together.

After holding her child for two minutes, the unwed mother gave her baby up for adoption and thought she would never see her again.

“I didn’t tell any of my family, I didn’t tell any of my friends back on the mainland and it was something that I got through and then kind of buried pretty deeply inside of me.” said mother Nancy Gille.

A dark secret that stayed buried for decades, yet she never stopped wondering. in 2009, her need to know led her back to Hawaii and private investigator Hilton Lui.

“I got the courage up to really open up Pandora’s box and take the next step.” said mother Nancy Gille.

Lui went on a mission to find the missing link in Gille’s life. After months of research he found what he was looking for in Australia.

“I just had to tear up, like I’m doing right now, knowing that family is so important.” said Private Investigator Hilton Lui.

Last year, mother and daughter met for the first time since that morning in the hospital.

“It has been an amazing thing to have her arrive in my life.” said daughter Katherine Gray.

Earlier this week, they returned to the land where life all started.

“I see a tremendous sense of joy of something that was such a shameful secret in my life for more than three decades to have turn into such a thing of beauty.” said Nancy Gille.

“This is where the mother who has been separated from her natural child for 30 plus years is reunited in wonderful place — there’s no other place better than Hawaii to come — the land of aloha.” said Private Investigator Hilton Lui.

A relationship that started in paradise 34 years ago.

“I still pinch myself to believe that you know this is my daughter, it’s beyond my wildest dreams.” said mother Nancy Gille.

It will continue now for many, many more, and include a new generation.”
