Update:”Scio resident Larry Robert Morgan, 72, convicted of sexually abusing three girls, was sentenced to 12-and-a-half years in prison on Tuesday in Linn County Circuit Court.

Morgan had pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree sexual abuse and no contest to an additional count of first-degree sexual abuse on March 9.

“Each girl reported numerous instances (of abuse). Some were really disgusting to even read about,” said Prosecutor Keith Stein, who added that Morgan’s sentence was a good result.

Six other charges of first-degree sex abuse were dismissed at sentencing per terms of a plea deal.

The crimes occurred over the last few years, but were discovered when one of the children wrote a letter to a Christian camp, asking why God loved her but allowed her to be sexually abused.

Linn County Sheriff’s Office arrested Morgan in January, after receiving reports about the sex crimes.”
