How Could You? Hall of Shame-Jason Murray UPDATED

This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.

From Red Rock, Arizona, foster father Jason Murray “was arrested under suspicion of child abuse after allegedly striking his 10-month-old foster child.

Deputies say Jason Murray hit the infant in the face while she was eating because she had spit some macaroni and cheese out and it landed on him, according to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office.

He was booked into Jail on two counts of child abuse.

PCSO said Murry called 911 on June 9 to report that the child had been hurt and needed medical attention at their Red Rock home.

Officers and medics arrived and found the child bruised with injuries inconsistent to Murray’s story. The child was taken to the University of Arizona Medical Center where doctors said the girl had two lacerations and a puncture to the back of her throat.

According to PCSO, doctors believed the injuries were caused by someone putting their hand over the girl’s mouth and nose to prevent her from crying. The pressure build up forced the back of her throat to rupture.

Murry initially denied the allegations telling police he tried to help the girl while she was apparently choking on a spoon, but later admitted to hitting the girl in the face, according to PCSO.

A 2-year-old, 4-year-old and 10-year-old also live at the home with Murray and his wife. All of the children have since been removed from the home and placed in temporary foster care.

Sheriff Paul Babeu said the dad also told the 10-year-old to tell his mother that the girl fell off the couch and landed on some Legos.”

Update:”Arizona police say a man struck his 10-month-old foster daughter in the face because she spit her food out and it landed on him.

On June 9, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a 10-month-old bleeding from the mouth and having difficulty breathing.

Deputies responded to the residence and transported the child to the University of Arizona Medical Center in Tucson for treatment.

Medical staff said the child had two lacerations and a puncture to the back of her throat, which was causing air to escape her airway, making it difficult for her to breathe.

Medical personnel also observed numerous bruises on the child’s face and body, consistent with child abuse, according to a press release.

The baby’s foster father, Jason Murray, told deputies he was the one who made the 911 call.

Murray, 42, lives at the residence with his wife and three other children, officials said.

Murray initially told investigators he briefly got up from the dinner table to wash dishes when the child began to choke on a plastic spoon, the press release states.

Murray said he dislodged the spoon from the back of the child’s throat and she began to cry as blood and phlegm were coming out of her mouth, according to the press release.

However, doctors felt the injuries were caused by somebody putting their hand over the child’s mouth and nose as she cried, causing air to be trapped in her lungs and rupture the back of her throat, authorities said.

Murray later admitted to hitting the child in the face while she was eating “because she spit her food out and it landed on him,” the press release states.

Murray allegedly told his 10-year-old son to lie to his mother about what occurred and told him to say that the child received the bruises from falling off of the couch and landing on Lego toys, police said.

“While the victim was too young to describe what occurred, thankfully her siblings were not,” police said in the press release.

Murray was arrested on two counts of child abuse and remains in custody on $10,000 bond.

He is scheduled to appear in court on June 26.

A call for comment to Murray’s attorney was not immediately returned.

The child is expected to fully recover from her injuries, authorities said. She and her other siblings have been removed from the home and placed in temporary foster care. ”
