“Expiration of Colombian Authorization for U.S. Adoption Service Providers
The Colombian Central Authority, Instituto Colombiano de Bienestar Familiar (ICBF), the Colombian Family Welfare Institute, has informed the Department of State that Colombian authorization for the following three U.S. accredited adoption service providers (ASPs) to provide intercountry adoption services in adoptions from Colombia has expired:
• Adoption Avenues
• Grace International Adoption Agency
• La Vida International
U.S. prospective adoptive parents who were working with any of these three agencies as their primary provider should inform ICBF in writing at the address below of their intent to continue the process of adoption, and the name of the U.S. ASP accredited or approved by the Council on Accreditation that they have selected to serve as their new primary provider.
U.S. adoptive parents who completed Colombian adoptions using any of these three agencies should inform ICBF in writing at the address below of the name of the U.S. accredited or approved ASP that is assisting them with Colombia’s post adoption reporting requirements. (Note: Colombia requires four post-adoption reports to be provided to ICBF three, nine, 15, and 21 months after the final adoption).
