How Could You? Hall of Shame-Guatemalan Adoptee Mieya Daniel case-Child Death UPDATED

This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.

From Medina, Ohio, 35-Year-old adoptive father “is believed to have committed suicide after shooting his wife” and special-needs adoptive daughter.”A gun believed to have been used for the commission of the crime was found clasped in the hands of the 35-year-old man, who had one bullet wound on the forehead.

The names of the victims have not yet been released until authorities contact the close relatives of the deceased. According to eyewitness accounts, there was an argument between the man and his wife. After the argument, four shots were heard in quick succession. When the paramedics arrived, all three were pronounced dead at the scene. The paramedics could not confirm if the husband had committed suicide after shooting his wife and daughter.

A neighbor told reporters, “The couple has been fighting of late and the relationship has not been great since the adoption of their daughter. This looks much like the story of “Husband commits suicide after shooting wife and daughter.” Some neighbors expressed shock at the deaths. “They looked a loving couple and were always happy.I cannot believe that the husband shot his wife and lovely daughter before committing suicide,” said another neighbor.

As a husband apparently committed suicide after shooting his wife and daughter, the bodies were sent to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy. Police could not find a suicide note to help them determine the motive behind the deaths.”

“Medina Police made a gruesome discovery overnight, finding a family of three dead inside their home, in what appears to be a murder-suicide.

The discovery happened Friday night around 11 p.m. on Pinewood Drive.

Police said a married couple along with their adopted special needs child were found dead. Police received a call and broke down the front door to the home.

The family’s next door neighbor, Ricardo Rodriguez, told newsnet5.com he watched police raid the home, remove the bodies and tow away the couple’s SUV.

He said the odor was unlike anything he’s ever smelled.

“It smelled very rotten-smelling, very potent,” Rodriguez said.

Rodriguez just moved in a couple of weeks ago and said he had little interaction with the family and did not know their names.

Police said all three bodies have been taken to the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s office for identification and autopsies.”

“Several residents of the small, quiet Medina community where three people were found dead in a suspected murder-suicide said they were stunned when investigators removed their bodies from the condo late Friday.

Detectives believe the three people found dead Friday evening in the Pinewood Estates condominium complex on Pinewood Drive are a husband, a wife and their adopted child, who was developmentally disabled. Their names have not been released.

The neighborhood was quiet Saturday afternoon. The lock was removed from the condo where officers found the three bodies, and a missed delivery notice was hanging on the condo’s door.

Neighbors said the man and woman who lived in the condo were quiet, but could regularly be seen walking hand-in-hand through the complex, often with their two Jack Russell Terriers.

“They always walked hand-in-hand,” neighbor Sandra Miller said. “They seemed very happy, but you never know what goes on inside someone’s house.”

Autumn Dawes said she barely knew the man and the woman, but that they were friendly to neighbors.

“This kind of thing is shocking,” Dawes said. “They seemed very happy, but I guess you just never know.”

The police activity led to a group of neighbors gathering outside the condo late Friday. Ricardo Rodriguez, who moved into the condo next door just weeks ago, said he was stunned when he realized what had happened.

“Everybody was out here, and we were all puzzled about what happened,” Rodriguez said. “Eventually [officers] told us to go inside while they carried out the bodies.”

Neighbors also said they saw officers removing the two Jack Russell Terriers and a cat, which were alive, from the home.

Officers found the three bodies while performing a welfare check. Investigators have not yet determined the date or cause of death. Autopsies will be performed at the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s Office, police said.

Medina Police Chief Patrick Berarducci declined to say whether investigators found a weapon inside the condo.

“We’ll let the coroner release the names and determine the cause of death, and we’ll go from there,” Berarducci said.”

Update: “Autopsies were expected to be conducted Monday to determine the cause of death of three people discovered inside a Medina condominium over the weekend.

Police found the victims after making forced entry at the Pinewood Estates Condominium complex responding to a call for a welfare check.

In a weekend release, Medina Police Chief Patrick Berarducci called the deaths an apparent murder-suicide, with one of the victims being the adopted child with special needs of the couple who lives at the condominium.

The Medina County Coroner would only say Monday that they were trying to find dental records for the victims to help make positive identifications.

On Monday, neighbors were still concerned about the deaths, calling the couple very outgoing and friendly.

“Very friendly people.  I have never heard him raise his voice. I know the dogs bark quite a bit and, that’s normal, a dog is a dog it didn’t disrupt anybody,” said Jim Bahr.

The last any of the neighbors say they saw the couple was several weeks ago, but nobody says they noticed any sign of trouble.

Neighbors say the husband was always at home and frequently helped with projects around the condominium community.

They say they saw his wife less often, but described her as also very friendly.

Very few of them even realized the couple had a child.”

Update 2: “The three people found dead last week in a Medina condo have been identified as a couple and a 12-year-old girl.

William Nemeth, 63; Michelle Nemeth, 47; and Mieya Daniel, 12, were found dead Sept. 18 at the Pinewood Estate condominium complex, Medina County Coroner Neil Grabenstetter said Friday.

The girl was Michelle Nemeth’s adopted daughter from a previous marriage.

All three died of gunshot wounds, Grabenstetter said. Detectives said Saturday that they believe the three died in a suspected murder-suicide.

“Preliminary investigation makes it most likely the male victim did the shooting, but the police and the [state Bureau of Criminal Investigation] are still investigating,” Grabenstetter said.

It’s unclear when the three died. Dental records were used to identify them, Grabenstetter said.

Detectives have not released any additional information.”

They were found dead in a house on Pinewood drive last Friday.

The coroner has not yet said how long they were dead before their bodies were found.”
