Sisters Reunite in UK
“Annette Youngson, 50, shared an emotional Facebook post in attempt to find out more about her missing sibling, Heather Ede, 49.
The sisters’ biological mum, who is deaf-mute, put the pair up for adoption after they were born because she was unable to look after them.
In order to track down her lost sister, Annette posted a picture of herself holding up a piece of paper, which read: “I’m trying to find my sister, born Heather Smith, on April 26 1967 at Northallerton Maternity Hospital, North Yorkshire.
“Her name could have been changed but someone out there might know here. Please everyone share. Thanks.”
Remarkably, it only took a few days for the two siblings to make contact.
Younger sister Heather, from Peterlee, County Durham, spotted her sister’s appeal on a local selling page.
Shocked to be tracked down, she immediately responded: “I think I am the person you are looking for.”
Heather explained: “When I first read the Facebook post I couldn’t believe it. I thought it couldn’t be possible, it had been too long and too much time had passed.”
As Annette had previously tried and failed to track her sister down, she was flabbergasted that she received a reply so quickly.
She revealed: “Even though we’d never been together, even as babies, Heather was constantly in my mind over the years.
“I had tried to find her online, but had no luck.
“I hoped the Facebook post would work, but I had no idea how quickly I would find Heather. I was in shock.”
Care-worker Annette, who lives in Aberdeen, Scotland, exchanged phone numbers with Heather and the pair began calling each other every day.
Over the weekend, the sisters finally met in person, bringing over their partners Michael Youngson, 49, and Anthony Carter, 59, for support.”
