How Could You? Hall of Shame-Australia-Foster Mother

This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.

From Sydney, Australia, a 40-year-old foster mother “has been charged with murder after a 20-month-old foster baby in her care was found dead in a bed with a broken leg and badly bruised face.”

“She told operators police will ‘think I bashed the child’.”

“The Aboriginal boy suffered a broken femur and facial injuries before he died in a rural town near Dubbo, New South Wales in 2015, The Daily Telegraph reported.

The woman faced Dubbo Local Court on Tuesday charged with murder. She cried throughout the hearing and did not enter a plea.

The court heard the woman called triple-zero on March 23, 2015, and said ‘they’re going to think I bashed the child’ before explaining how the baby was injured.

Magistrate Paul Hayes refused bail and said the explanation given did not seem plausible given the baby’s injuries.

The child’s biological mother said outside court she was relieved at the charge.

‘He was supposed to be safe there… not killed,’ she said.

She said she gave the child up because she was in an abusive relationship.

The toddler’s biological mother told the Daily Telegraph she was ‘desperate for answers’ and said she felt let down by the government and the foster care provider.

‘We don’t know anything… We haven’t been told anything. We didn’t even get to see him until three weeks after he died,’ she said.

The mother claimed she was abused by her partner and sought temporary help to look after her son, who died just two months later.

The night before the child was found dead, the foster carer held a ‘gathering’ at the home, the Daily Telegraph understands.

An inquest into the child’s death is now expected to be delayed as the court process is carried out.  ”
