How Could You? Hall of Shame-Falemao and Norma Pili

This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.

From Saratoga Springs, Utah, foster parents “Falemao “Junior” Pili and Norma “Lonnie” Pili are accused of sexually and physically abusing the 17-year-old girl between 2013-2018. Court documents indicate the victim has a “diminished mental capacity.””

They were “arrested on child abuse charges after a 17-year-old girl was raped and beaten over a five-year period.”

“The victim told investigators when she was alone with Junior, he would make her watch pornography and then he would force her to have intercourse or perform sexual acts. According to a probable cause statement, if she said no, Junior would threaten her with violence or to have her “sent away.”

The teen told investigators he often threatened to kill her with a machete if she told anyone. Police said the teen was also pushed down the stairs and physically harmed for lying to Junior.

Lonnie is accused of repeatedly assaulting the victim in the same time frame. Court documents state on one occasion Lonnie threw a can of sweetened condensed milk at the back of the victim’s head causing a cut on the girl’s head that was documented by authorities days later.

“Junior” Pili was arrested on charges of forcible sodomy, sexual abuse of child, forcible sexual abuse, aggravated, sexual assault, object rape and rape.

“Lonnie” Pili was charged with child abuse with physical injury.

Because the couple were in a “position of special trust” charges were enhanced in this case.”
