From Pomona, California,”prosecutors on Friday charged a Pomona man working as an agent for the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement with sexually assaulting his foster child.

The alleged abuse occurred sometime between December 2017 and May 2019 when the child was 14 and 15 years old, prosecutors with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said in a criminal complaint.

Carlos Nava, 30, of Pomona, was charged with four counts of lewd act upon a child age 14 or 15 and three counts of oral copulation of a person under 18, court documents said.

Ricardo Santiago, spokesman for the district attorney’s office, said the child had been under Nava’s care, but he did not know for how long.

Much of the alleged abuse occurred inside their Pomona home, Santiago said.

Pomona police arrested Nava on Thursday morning. He is being held on $250,000 bail, according to county jail records.

The Department of Homeland Security’s Office of the Inspector General assisted Pomona police in the investigation, said Lori Haley, a spokeswoman for ICE.

She declined to say whether or not Nava was still an employee of the agency.”
