“Temporary Cessation of Catholic Charities Baltimore, Associated Catholic Charities, Inc., Child and Family Services Division’s Adoption Program in Cameroon, Ghana, Guyana, Jamaica, Nigeria, and Zambia

On April 22, 2020, the Intercountry Adoption Accreditation and Maintenance Entity (IAAME) required Catholic Charities Baltimore, Associated Catholic Charities, Inc., Child and Family Services Division (Catholic Charities Baltimore) to temporarily cease providing adoption services in Cameroon, Ghana, Guyana, Jamaica, Nigeria, and Zambia. IAAME determined that it was necessary to take this action due to Catholic Charities Baltimore’s failure to maintain substantial compliance with relevant accreditation standards.

During this cessation, Catholic Charities Baltimore must cease to provide all Primary Provider services in connection with intercountry adoption cases in the aforementioned countries. Catholic Charities Baltimore is not required to transfer ongoing cases to another provider at this time if no adoption services will be provided during the cessation.

If you have an open case with Catholic Charities Baltimore, please contact them directly to find out how the cessation will affect your case. You may also wish to review the information on U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services’ website at If Your Adoption Service Provider is no Longer Accredited or Approved.

Federal regulations authorize designated accrediting entities to review complaints and take action when it determines regulatory standards have been violated. The Department of State facilitates communication to the public about the outcome of accrediting entity determinations. Please direct any questions about this announcement to IAAME at www.iaame.net.”
