How Could You? Hall of Shame- Amanda Glass

This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.

From Jacksonville, Florida, Amanda Carolyn Glass, adoptee, was arrested on Wednesday May 30, 2012 with her boyfriend Sean Michael Archibeque, both 25, for the skull fracture, wrist fractures and two leg fractures of their one-year-old daughter. The charges were  “aggravated child abuse and child neglect causing great bodily harm. Each remains in jail on $125,000 bail each.”

“The Westside couple told investigators that the toddler “went limp” when she woke from a nap on May 26 and was diagnosed with a viral infection when taken to a hospital emergency room. But at a Monday family cookout, the toddler wasn’t acting normal, moving slowly and slumped over, according to the arrest report.

They told police she had fallen off a toddler bed, hit her head in the tub and also on corner of the hallway wall, according to the arrest report. By Wednesday officials diagnosed her as the victim of abuse and neglect.”

Law & Disorder: 2 arrested in Jacksonville case of child abuse, neglect

The father of an 18-year-old woman arrested Wednesday with her boyfriend after their 1-year-old daughter was hospitalized with a skull fracture says he and others warned the Florida Department of Children and Families about the danger the child faced.

But G. Keith Glass said no one heeded their concerns, while department officials say they only received one complaint that was cleared.

Amanda Carolyn Glass and Sean Michael Archibeque, 25, remain in the Duval County jail charged with aggravated child abuse and child neglect, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Glass said he and his ex-wife adopted Amanda and her older sister 14 years ago. He said he spoke with a department employee about his concern before the baby was born.

“I … told her that I felt they needed to take her away the day she was born,” Glass said. “I knew this would happen, but I didn’t think it would be this bad. It is just awful.”

Only one abuse complaint was filed in January, and an investigation showed “no evidence of abuse,” department spokesman John Harrell said.

The agency’s child abuse hotline wouldn’t have taken Glass’ report “if the child had not been born yet,” he said. The department is investigating the latest case.

The child was diagnosed as an abuse and neglect victim when skull and wrist fractures and two older leg fractures were found at Wolfson Children’s Hospital, according to the arrest report. The parents told police the child had fallen off a toddler bed and hit her head in a tub and on a wall, according to the report.

Wolfson and Shands Jacksonville have no record of the child. Glass said he doesn’t know who has custody now.”

  1. The so called father mentioned above is the adopted father of Amanda. He has a child abuse case on him for beating Amanda and her sister .He would beat them girls every day and watch them bath .he has no right to talk about abuse when he is the poster child of it.This man put a 2×4 on the sister’s shoulders and made her walk around the yard .There is NO REASON for CHILD ABUSE ,and those who have abused shouldn’t throw stone’s ..Maybe Jacksonville news paper should check out the people they get quote’s from .Go ahead and look it up Gregory Keith Glass,he has an abuse case on him.as far as him and his wife adopted Amanda and her sister the mother is the birth mom and didn’t adopt them.He adopted them for a tax right off .any way you should check the people out before you let them blow crap out of their Hippocratic mouth.

    • Thank you for the information. That is just horrible. Did the abuse occur in a different county than Duval? I did a search on Florida records(they are by county) and for Duval, there are only traffic violations and divorces attributed to him, no criminal cases.

  2. I am the older sister of Amanda Carolyn glass. 1.) it should not just be my sister that’s getting criticized. Her boyfriend was involved in this case. He played a role in it but I don’t see anything about him really and 2.) As far as mine and amandas ”father” goes I don’t see where he has any right to put in his 2 cents. He was VERY ABUSIVE physically mentally and emotionally to both my sister and I. He’s so worried about the welfare of my niece but he’s the one who had my sister pinned up against the wall telling her he hated her, calling her names and telling her he was gonna punch her in the stomach and kill her unborn ”bastard” baby. If you want information on Keith Glass I can tell you all about him. Due to the abuse from him my sister suffers from ptsd.

    • I happen to be one of Amanda’s ex boyfriends. And I heard all about those things. About the abuse Keith did to her. About his threats against you, her, and your mother. About his drug usage and all sorts of crap. Call me wrong for wanting to criticize your sister, but honestly, I never would have thought this of her. The way she talked about Phoebe when we talked on the phone, told me she loved that child. Heck, I was dating her when Phoebe was born!!! And to wake up one morning to see a message in my inbox on Facebook leading to all sorts of different news sites saying she was arrested for child abuse and neglect? I no longer feel sympathy. I’m ashamed to say I know her, much less dated her for nearly 3 months.

  3. I am one of Sean’s old girlfriends. I am the one he dated before he found out about the child. We dated for a year being on and off but we always were together. I have to talk on his behalf being that I really knew him. He was one to treat his niece with respect and he took care of her since she was still in a baby like state. He is not one to get that aggressive and beat a child up or let alone abuse a child. He cared about his child he would give up anything for her. I remember the day he told me that he just found out that he has a daughter and the look on his face was joyous one. I recall telling him he is lucky to have a blessing. He told me I know I love children. I know this because we would talk about us if we were to we married and have a child of our own. Sean is not a bad guy and I don’t believe he that he did wrong. I know this because my gut tells me so and heart does too.
