How Could You? Hall of Shame- Kristin Stringer

This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.

Foster child Sanquia Jacobs was awarded a default judgment in the amount of $2,405,000  for abuse from her foster parent Kristin Stringer who also was an employee of Illinois DCFS three years ago.

The reason this is not classified as  Bittersweet Justice case yet is because she has not been paid. The Appeals court has ruled that it cannot compel payment thrugh a writ of mandamus. Mandamus  is “Latin for “we order,” a writ (more modernly called a “writ of mandate”) which orders a public agency or governmental body to perform an act required by law when it has neglected or refused to do so.”

See Illinois Appellate Court Ruling June 1, 2012 for the full story.

The lawsuit was filed in 2004. The order was approved April 20, 2009.

In this June 1, 2012 ruling, the description of the abuse Sanquia Jacobs suffered is as follows: “Stringer knowingly, recklessly, and negligently placed her in a bathtub full of hot water, resulting in burn injuries.”
