How Could You? Hall of Shame India Foster Parents-Child Death

This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.

From India, foster mother Sakshi “brutally murdered her foster daughter and later attempted suicide on Monday, two days after alleging that her husband had tried to rape the child” named Meena. Meena was struck “on the neck with a sharp-edged weapon leading to her death. Sakshi then slit her wrists and attempted suicide. She is in a critical condition at a local hospital.”

“”Sakshi and her husband Ramesh had no child, so they adopted his brother’s daughter, Meena,” Amritsar police commissioner RP Mittal said. “Two days ago, Sakshi had said that her husband tried to rape Meena. Following this, we registered a case against Ramesh and arrested him.”

“Responding to a question, the police commissioner said, “We have found a written note, but we are still verifying it.”

Talking to the media from her hospital bed, Sakshi said: “After I lodged a complaint against my husband I had to face taunts from people around me that I framed my husband. I could not tolerate this and decided to kill myself and Meena.”

The girl’s body was wrapped in a bed sheet and taken to the mortuary. The post-mortem will be conducted on Tuesday.”
