Draft Romanian International Adoption Law for Romanian Citizens

“The Senate passed Tuesday a draft law that allows the international adoption of Romanian children if the adopter or one of the two spouses is a Romanian citizen, Mediafax informs. The report with the amendments proposed by the Legal and Labour committees, passed with 101 votes to seven, and four abstentions. The international adoption of Romanian children is allowed if the adopter or one of the spouses is a Romanian citizen, after a two-year interval when the internal adoption and the adoption by relatives up to the 4th degree living abroad have precedence. The version of the law submitted by the government only allowed the international adoption by relatives up to the 3rd degree, residing abroad.”
