Another case illustrating safe haven laws don’t work
Written by Reformatina
I came across a very sad article about a newborn who drowned in what appears to be an intentional murder. The state wants the public to know about safe haven laws that allow mothers to abandon their infants anonymously. However, this case further illustrates that safe haven laws don’t work to save children as intended when the bills were passed. Mothers like the mother to this baby are clearly not in the frame of mind to seek out a “safe haven” drop off point.
Personally, I would like safe haven laws to be completely done away with. All they seem to accomplish is making it easier to abandon children and effectively wipe away any trace of identity and history that child has.
