From Epsom, UK, group home caregiver John Jury, 50, was convicted of  rape and systematic abuse of three young girls over the past 13 years. He was sentenced to 22 years in jail.

“He was finally caught after a woman saw pictures of him on Facebook and came forward fearing he may be targeting other young girls.

The investigation identified two further victims who were abused between 1998 and 2011 in the Epsom area.

Jury was found guilty of five counts of rape, three counts of sexual touching and one count of indecent assault following a trial at Guildford Crown Court in October [2012].

Jury, who worked at a residential care home, was arrested on December 29 in 2011.

Officers discovered reference “manuals” about child abuse and novels about abused children hidden in a wardrobe at home at his home in Scotts Farm Road.

It emerged that Jury had been abusing and raping a second teenage girl since she was 11 and indecent images of her were found on his laptop and phone.

A third victim also came forward saying she had been sexually abused and raped by Jury in the late 1990s when aged between 11 and 15.

Detective Constable David Sprague said: “John Jury is a calculating and dangerous individual whose abuse of young girls has spanned the last 13 years.

“His appalling crimes have had a devastating impact on the lives of all three of his victims.

“It is thanks to their courage and determination that Jury’s predatory behaviour has been brought to a halt and he will now spend a considerable time behind bars.

“I would also like to pay tribute to the painstaking work of the officers involved that ensured Jury was put before a court and justice was secured for these three victims.

“This case should send a message to those that prey on children in this way that Surrey Police will pursue anyone responsible for such behaviour whether in regard to a recent or historic allegation.”

Jury will not be able to apply for parole for at least 11 years to protect the public.”
