From St. Francisville, Louisiana, kinship adoptive parent, Gretchen Hanchey, 51, “has been arrested and later released on a $100,000 bond after being accused of brutally beating and abusing a young girl she and her husband adopted. The little girl is the husband’s biological niece.

According to investigators, the allegations include cutting off part of the girl’s lip, beating her with a metal bat, zip-tying her to a chair, and throwing water on her if she snored.

Gretchen Hanchey was arrested on Sept. 26, 2025, and charged with one count of cruelty to juveniles and one count of second-degree battery. Her husband, Glenn Hanchey, was arrested on Nov. 12th [2025].

The alleged abuse dates back to February 2024.”
