How Could You? Hall of Shame-7-Month-Old Foster Boy case-Child Death

This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.

From Monterey, Tennessee, a foster grandmother left a 7-month-old foster son in a hot car “for hours with the windows sealed and the engine off” and died.

“The 7-month-old child, who has not been identified, was found unresponsive in the car around 4 p.m. Wednesday [April 15, 2026] outside a library in Monterey. In a press release, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office said emergency responders attempted lifesaving measures.”

“WKRN reports that the child’s foster grandmother was supposed to take the child to day care that day. When the baby didn’t arrive, day care staff reached out to the infant’s foster mother, who reached out to the grandmother. The grandmother then reportedly realized she hadn’t taken the baby to day care before going to the library.

The investigation is ongoing. The sheriff’s office has not announced if it will file charges at this time.”
