A 2023 case has come to light.

From Maccabim, Israel, the “Lod District Court sentenced Shai Blum from Maccabim to 10 years in prison for shooting his adopted son to death nine times and then stabbing a knife into his heart in July 2023. The father was also given a 12-month suspended sentence.

By agreement of the parties, he will enter prison in January 2027. Blum was convicted in a plea bargain on an amended indictment, in which he was charged with causing death under circumstances of diminished responsibility. Shai and his wife adopted their son Omri about 25 years ago. He was diagnosed on the autism spectrum and they learned he suffered from fetal alcohol syndrome.”
