How Could You? Hall of Shame-Bruce Allen Gee UPDATED
This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.
From Muncie, Indiana, foster parent Bruce Allen Gee, 49, “accused of sexually abusing two foster children who had been placed in his care, and later threatening to shoot two women while armed with a rifle, has reached a plea agreement that could send him to prison for three years” and up to nine years on electronic home detention.
“Gee this week offered preliminary guilty pleas to four Class D felonies, split between the two cases: Sexual misconduct with a minor, neglect of a dependent, intimidation and pointing a firearm.
Under the terms of an agreement negotiated by Chief Deputy Prosecutor Judi Calhoun and Gee’s attorney, B. Joseph Davis, four other charges, including child molesting and child solicitation, would be dropped.
The deal also places a nine-month limit on the executed sentence Gee could receive for each of his four convictions. His sentences, however, could be served consecutively, for a total of up to three years.
Any additional time assessed by [Judge] Cannon — which could be up to 108 months — would be served on electronic home detention.
The judge — who rejected an earlier proposed deal for Gee in January — took the latest agreement under advisement and tentatively set sentencing for Aug. 6.
Chief Deputy Prosecutor Calhoun said Thursday the plea negotiations took place before she learned of Gee’s recent arrest in Madison County, where he has been charged with child molesting, a Class A felony carrying a standard 30-year prison term.
“At the time I made the offer, I thought it was good resolution to the case and made it possible for all the victims to go on with their lives without reliving these events,” she said.
Gee’s first of now three arrests came in April 2012, after he was accused of sexually abusing the two foster children at his westside Muncie home.
According to court documents, Gee acknowledged to police that the girls — both under the age of 15, and one under the age of 11 — had fondled his genitals. He insisted his alleged victims had instigated the sexual contact.
In July 2012, he was arrested again, this time after he was accused of pointing a rifle at a baby sitter and another woman at his estranged wife’s home. Police reports indicated Gee, who had been moving personal belongings out of the house, pointed the gun at the women and asked, “You want to call my bluff? Who wants to be first?”
The Madison County case against Gee — based on allegations dating back to May 2012 — is set for trial Sept. 24 [2013] in Madison Circuit Court 3.”
