How Could You? Hall of Shame-Social Worker Angela Christine Caraway case UPDATED

This will be an archive of heinous actions by those involved in child welfare, foster care and adoption. We forewarn you that these are deeply disturbing stories that may involve sex abuse, murder, kidnapping and other horrendous actions.

From Wilkes, North Carolina, Social Worker Angela Christine Caraway,38 , had a “misdemeanor charge [filed against her] at the Wilkes Department of Social Services in connection with an incident involving a 3-year-old child in foster care.

Wilkes Sheriff Chris Shew said Angela Christine Caraway, 38, …is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor as a result of an investigation of a report of inappropriate behavior with a juvenile. Shew said the juvenile was a male.

According to the warrant charging her, Ms. Caraway was interviewing the 3-year-old child on May 8 when she allowed the child to touch her breasts and rub between her legs.

According to a Wilkes Sheriff’s Department incident report, it was reported to the sheriff’s department on June 7 that a Wilkes DSS foster care social worker may have been involved in appropriate behavior with a juvenile placed in foster care.

Wilkes DSS Director Bill Sebastian said this morning about the case, “Appropriate action has been taken in accordance with the State Personnel Act.” He said he didn’t wish to elaborate further on Ms. Caraway’s current employment status at Wilkes DSS as a result of legal advice he received.

Sebastian said Ms. Caraway has worked at Wilkes DSS about six months and before that had 3½ years prior experience in a similar position in another area county.”

  1. Poorly written article. First of all, shame on YOU for not following up with this story as it has been developing for a couple years now. All allegations against her were dropped altogether and Miss Angela Caraway was never convicted of any crimes. Second, Miss Angela Caraway has been deemed eligible to continue her career in social work by a court of law. Her case never even made it to trial. When dealing with allegations regarding crimes, when you completely disregard “innocent until proven guilty”, your “forum” becomes nothing more than a gossip column. If you had any merit or character, you would have stuck to the facts and amended the article once more information became available.

    • First of all, I didn’t write the article. Second of all, there has been no followup to this. I have not seen any articles. Please forward them to me if you have seen one.I see that she no longer has a case in North Carolina, so it must have been dismissed. This has NOT been “developing for a couple years”. It only has been one and a half years. There is no innocent until proven guilty here. This is not a court of law. And I do have merit and character as I have published your god damn bitchy comments! So I will put ‘case’ at the end of the How Could You?
