From White City, Oregon, 52-year-old foster father  “Samuel Joseph Hicks is being held in the Jackson County Jail on $1 million bail on charges of three counts of first-degree sexual abuse, two counts of second-degree rape, two counts of second-degree sodomy and two counts of second-degree unlawful sexual penetration.

According to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, the arrest resulted from a four-month investigation which determined the abuse had occurred during the time Hicks was the victim’s foster parent. Detectives have reason to believe there may be more victims who have not come forward, the news release said. Update: “A foster parent has been sentenced to 12 years and six months in prison for raping three girls in his care.

The Medford Mail Tribune reports 54-year-old Samuel Hicks was scheduled to be taken to prison Friday after pleading guilty to two counts of rape and one count of sexual abuse involving two girls. He also pleaded no contest to sexual abuse against a third girl.

Court documents say Hicks was running a therapeutic foster home in Central Point when the crimes occurred between June 2012 and June 2014 involving a then 11-year-old and two 15-year-old girls.

Hicks was arrested in October 2014 after one of the girls told a friend of the abuse.”
